Design the empty state first
The first time someone opens a new product, the empty screen is the product.
Say what is missing
"No projects yet" is more honest than a blank grid. Tell the person what creating one will do.
Do not fake the list
Sample rows that look like real work teach the wrong lesson. If you show a sample, label it.
Loading is a state too
A layout that jumps when the data arrives feels broken even when the data is right.
