If a person cannot see the failed job, the automation is a new outage.

An operator needs the input, the error, and a retry button. A log file on a server is not an operator view.

Someone should be able to pause the job when the downstream system is down. Automatic retries against a dead API are noise.

Design the exception first. The happy path is the short one.
